Metro Transit bus routes 771 and 776 stop within one mile of the facility (Map It!).

Visiting rules

  • Visitors will not be allowed during a resident’s first 48 hours of incarceration.
  • Visitors do not need to schedule their visits, but may call 612-596-0002 to a ensure resident is able to receive visits.
  • Visitors must present a valid driver’s license or government issued ID card.
  • Visitors younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with valid proof of guardianship.
  • Residents may receive one visit during scheduled visiting hours.
  • Only two adults per visit are permitted, and switching visitors is prohibited.
  • Visits will be 30 minutes, but may be reduced due to time and the number of requests for visits.
  • Former residents may not visit within 60 days of their discharge from the Adult Corrections Facility.
  • Visits will be terminated for disruptive or unlawful behavior.

Dropping off items for residents

  • Visitors may deposit money (cash only) to a resident’s account by using the Cobra Cashier kiosk (similar to an ATM) located in the lobby. There is a fee of $3.25 for deposits up to $500.
  • Residents may not receive mail directly from visitors. All correspondence for residents must arrive through the U.S. mail.
  • Publications are not accepted unless they are received via U.S. mail directly from the publisher.
  • One set of clothing may be accepted by a resident if he is scheduled for release within 24 hours of the visit.

Visiting residents in the Special Management Unit

Residents housed in segregation or separation may not have visits during normal visiting hours. To schedule a visit with a resident in the Special Management Unit, contact the duty officer at 612-596-0002. These visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours before the visit takes place.

Holiday visits

If a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled visiting day, then normal visiting hours will be allowed. When the holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, then visiting hours are 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
