Program Summary: Mobile crisis assessment and intervention services for adults experiencing a mental health crisis

Program description

Target population:

Any adult in Hennepin County who is experiencing symptoms of a mental health crisis and needs crisis assessment and intervention, particularly individuals whose crisis is likely to escalate without prompt intervention and those at risk of psychiatric hospitalization.

Services:

  • Evaluation of immediate need for crisis/emergency services (telephone triage)
  • Risk assessment and evaluation for more intensive services  
  • Assistance in de-escalation of psychiatric emergencies
  • Coordination with consumers, family, policy, health care providers and hospital emergency rooms
  • Documentation of assessment and consumer crisis plan
  • Clinical consultation with designated mental health professionals
  • Referral for crisis stabilization services

Conditions of eligibility:

  • Ages 18 years and older
  • Currently located in Hennepin County

How to obtain services:

Call 612-596-1223 and provide relevant information such as:

  • Client name
  • Date of birth
  • Location
  • Nature of crisis

For life-threatening symptoms or extremely dangerous situations, call 911.  If you are uncertain about the severity or nature of the crisis situation, COPE staff is available to discuss the situation and help to determine the most appropriate course of action.

What to expect:

If mobile crisis response is determined to be needed, response time is usually within 2 hours depending on need and current demand for mobile crisis response team.
