When it’s time to dig out your holiday decorations from storage, what do you do if some are broken or aren’t working?
Hennepin County has free monthly Fix-It Clinics, where handy volunteers can help you diagnose and possibly fix your broken household stuff. Some holiday decorations, such as those that play music, need sewing or have moving parts (such as ice skaters on a rink) may be able to be repaired at a Fix-It Clinic. Broken strings of lights have a less-successful repair rate, but it’s worth a try, especially if your lights have sentimental value. If they can’t be repaired, you can recycle string lights at the county’s drop-off sites in Brooklyn Park or Bloomington.
