Iconography
Icons can help communicate ideas and information quickly and effectively. They cut across language barriers. Avoid using icons to represent complex ideas or as a substitute for complex ideas. Instead use them to help stress meaning and give purposeful visual cues.
Consistent use of iconography is a simple way to reaffirm our brand. It adds another dimension of relatability to our design aesthetic.
Guidelines:
- Use icons to support the content.
- Use simple, recognizable icons.
- Use friendly, rounded shapes with large amounts of solid space for color.
- Limit the use of brand accent colors to one on a single page for design simplicity.
- Use appropriate color cues for functional icons (like the color green for success). For detail about use of color, visit Colors.
- Use the brand guidelines. Visit Brand foundations.
